Staff Training in the KNOWinFOOD Project
In the period 13-18 of February 2017, a short-term joint staff training event was organised at the University of Food Technology UFT in Plovdiv, Bulgaria as an activity of the international Erasmus+ educational project KNOWinFOOD. The project is coordinated by SAIAPM Faculty from ULBS Romania, and has IUT Lyon France, DU Debrecen Hungary, UFT Plovdiv Bulgaria and Supremia SA Romania as partners. The trainings were organised with representatives from the coordinator and all project partners.
The project Knowledge triangle for food innovation by harnessing the tradition and assuring sustainability KNOWinFOOD focuses on the collaboration between high education, research and industry to train students to develop new safe and sustainable foods by harnessing the tradition. This goal will be reached by using a web platform developed during the project, to support the learning and communication activities with students.
During the event at UFT Plovdiv, trainings on the web platform use were made, for developing protocols and gathering data for the learning resources. The learning resources, organised as knowledge bases and an on-line training material, will be available for students to help them in developing new foods.
During the event, an exhibition of innovative sweets designed and backed by the students of Nutrition and tourism bachelor program was organised by the University of Food Technology UFT Plovdiv. The exhibition was a preliminary exercise on food innovation. Edible flowers or spirulina as colouring were the stars of the exhibition. Also, a degustation of traditional foods and drinks from project partner countries was made. The attaché for academic and scientific cooperation from the French Institute in Bulgaria was present to the exhibition, the degustation and discussions.
